Most residential buyer traffic in Austin arrives through Zillow. That is simply where people look. So the highest leverage thing you can do to a Zillow listing is make it stand out in the search grid before anyone has clicked on it, and the 3D Home badge is one of the few levers you actually control.

What the Zillow 3D Home badge does

Three things, all of them upstream of the listing page:

  • It shows in search results. A buyer scrolling a grid of thumbnails sees the 3D Home marker on your listing and not on the four around it.
  • It is a filter. Buyers can filter Zillow search to listings with a 3D tour. Without one you are not in that result set at all.
  • It signals effort. Rightly or not, a buyer reads a 3D tour as a seller and an agent who are taking the sale seriously.

Zillow's own data shows listings with a 3D Home tour picking up materially more saves and shares. We would not lean on any single published figure too hard, but the mechanism is straightforward and it costs you one extra scan during a shoot you were already booking.

What the buyer gets from a Zillow 3D tour

An interactive panoramic walkthrough of every room, plus an interactive floor plan they can click through room by room, all inside the Zillow listing they were already looking at. No app, no separate link, no reason to bounce.

The honest comparison with Matterport

We sell both, so there is no reason for us to pretend one is universally better. Matterport produces the richer tour: a true dollhouse model, measurement tools, and a link you can embed on the MLS, your site or an email. Zillow 3D is narrower but it is aimed at where your traffic already is.

The practical rule we give agents: if the listing is a standard residential property and Zillow is where your buyers are, take the Zillow tour. If it is luxury, commercial, or aimed at relocation buyers who need to measure things from another state, take Matterport. If the property is expensive enough to justify it, take both.

Two scans, two charges. A Matterport capture cannot be converted into a Zillow 3D Home tour or the other way round. They use different hardware and different capture apps. If you want both, we do both in the same visit, and they are billed separately.

Booking a Zillow 3D tour with your shoot

The capture happens during your normal photography appointment, so the seller clears out of the house once. A 3D tour is included in our $450 and $975 listing packages, and can be added to any booking.

What is a Zillow 3D Home tour?
It is an interactive tour captured in the Zillow 3D Home app that publishes straight into your Zillow listing. It gives buyers a panoramic walkthrough and an interactive floor plan, and it earns the listing a 3D Home badge in Zillow search results and a filter position for buyers browsing by tour.
Does a 3D Home tour actually get more views?
Zillow has published figures showing listings with a 3D Home tour get meaningfully more saves and shares than listings without one. We would treat any single number carefully, but the mechanism is not really in doubt: the badge is visible in the search result before anyone clicks, and it is a filter buyers can select. Anything that makes your listing stand out in a grid of thumbnails is doing work.
How is this different from a Matterport tour?
A Matterport tour is the better standalone tour, with a dollhouse model and measurement tools on a link you can put anywhere. A Zillow 3D Home tour lives inside Zillow and wins you the badge and the filter placement. They are captured separately on separate equipment, so one cannot be converted into the other. Many agents book both, and they are charged separately.
Can I put the Zillow tour on the MLS or my own site?
Not the way you can with Matterport. The Zillow 3D Home tour is built to live on Zillow. If you need a tour you can embed anywhere, that is what Matterport is for. If most of your buyer traffic comes through Zillow, the badge is usually the more valuable of the two.
How long does the capture take?
About 30 to 45 minutes on top of the photography for a standard home, and it happens in the same visit. Every room, hallway and closet gets a panorama, so it takes longer in a larger or more broken up floor plan.
Does the tour include a floor plan?
Yes. Zillow generates an interactive floor plan from the capture, which buyers can click through room to room. If you also need a measured 2D schematic with dimensions for the MLS or a flyer, that is our separate floor plan product.
